    British people also can't do anything without being advised by the Met Office... free thinking and common sense seems to be a thing of the past.

    1980: Wear a cap and use sun shield on exposed skin.
    2023: Don't go outside unless it's absolutely necessary.

    Rainy ... Severe rain warnings.
    1980: Wear a raincoat and take an umbrella if you're going out, put
    wellies on your kids going to school.
    2023: Stay indoors, possible flooding.

    Snowy... Snow warnings.
    1980: Wrap up warm, wear boots and walk carefully.
    2023: Hibernate until the winter is over.
