• 480 megabytes per second

If the rumors are right, the iPhone 15 will ship with a USB-C port and
charging cable that'll give customers a taste of the trouble. That
cable reportedly will be fine for charging but will transfer data at a
mere 480 megabytes per second, the poky speed that arrived with the
    USB 2.0 standard from 2000.

If true, that would be Apple giving the middle finger to the EU.

Sometimes, "be careful what you wish for" is a good idiom...

    Why don't the provide USB 1.1 with 11 MBit/s?

It's been suggested for a faster speed, that's right, you will have to
    buy apple's cable.

    Just a rumor.....

It's 480 megabits per second, or about 60 megabytes per second.
(and that's the wire speed, not the data transfer speed, which is quite a
    bit less)

I expect the dude wasn't transferring gigabytes of photos when dialup was
    the thing.

According to leaker Majin Bu, who has previously shared details about
Apple's new cables, the USB-C cables supplied in iPhone 15 boxes are
indeed limited to USB 2.0 data transfer speeds at a rate of 480 MBps,
which is the same as Lightning.

In contrast, rumors converge on both iPhone 15 Pro models supporting
higher USB-C transfer speeds. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo,
the iPhone 15 Pro models will support "at least" USB 3.2 or
Thunderbolt 3. For comparison, the iPad Pro features a Thunderbolt
port for transfer speeds up to 40 Gbps, while the entry-level iPad's
USB-C port is limited to just 480 Mbps.

With the higher-specification data transfer speed, iPhone 15 Pro
models will therefore be able to transfer video and other file types
much more quickly than the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

My experience with most iPhone users is that the cable is used
exclusively for charging. There is no data transfer between computers
and devices anymore, except by way of iCloud sync--and even then, it's
    just incidental.

I can't remember the last time I used a cable anyway... my iPhone charges wirelessly and everything else goes via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

I also can't remember the last time I opened iTunes on my PC let alone
    synced anything to it!!!

Don't know how many people connect an iPhone to a display, but only
    video bandwidth is needed.

A number of FAQs exist on "Import photos and videos from an iPhone to
    PC"

I suppose those who take lots of pics would do transfer.

Myself, the iPhone 11 is used as a home phone, and a trip phone, so
there is no need to do transfers. I've never used the cable for
    charging.

I used to work for Apple Support, and then (circa 2015), we still
advised people to connect the smart phone to a computer to back up.
Many did not want to pay for iCloud.

I don't have a smart phone myself (don't care for them), but I
occasionally sync an old iPod to iTunes in order to transfer songs.

The ease of this on Android is one of the things that attracted me to
the platform. I've got an FTP/SFTP/SMB client on my Android phone that
allows me to transfer anything I want to a local server. Works so well
    I love it.

All my pics go onto a local NAS. One less monthly bill to pay.

Seems like a strange criterion on which to hang an important platform
change like that. Yay American consumers, endless hilarity.

While all four models use USB-C charging as a standard, the speed of
data transfer varies between base and Pro models. Only the Pro models
support USB 3, which offers faster 10Gbps speeds. But if you want to
take advantage of those faster speeds, you'll need to buy your own USB
3 cable since Apple ships all phones with just a USB 2 cable.

    Thank fuck...

    1) I'm not going to rush out and upgrade my iPhone anytime soon.

    2) I rarely use cables with my iPhone these days anyway.

For most people, the camera tweaks are not relevant.

Satellite SOS function is something to consider for those being in non
    cell coverage areas.

eSim only for US models...other countries may have both Sim and eSim.
I'm not sure why Apple is doing this to US customers...Apple makes
bucks when eSim models are produced, but I don't know if some/all cell companies prefer eSim only.

Guess who has the patent for ELECTRONIC SUBSCRIBER IDENTITY MODULE
    (eSIM)?

    That's right, Apple

They tweaked the camera?! Jolly exciting. It's great to see the pinnacle

Well yeah, Apple is similar now to the Nokia 808 PureView, which came
out in 2012 with a 41 MP sensor. But Apple does not have the
    high-resolution f/2.4 Zeiss all-aspherical 1-group lens
