Exactly because unless your home already has 200A service.. and sometimes even then, you are most likely looking at a service panel upgrade. You also better home you don't have to replace or add any of the 2x4s because in that case you have 2 options.. either replace all of them along that wall, or cut down a 2x6 to exactly match the width of the 2x4s that are there. Then while the walls are open
you will probably have to install fire breaks, insulation and so on. Quickly gets to the point it's cheaper to demo the whole home and rebuilt...

1930's built home in upstate NY.
The building inspector and UL inspector were merciless.
The real problem with EV is for people who live in cities, or in large apartment complexes. There
won't be enough chargers to go around.
In NYC for example most people don't have a driveway or garage and may end
up parking 5 streets
away from where they live because parking is at a premium.
So what are they to do?
Live at the public charging stations?
The entire concept is ridiculous.

Bingo, and then you get into broken chargers, damaged charges and/or vandalized chargers. I mean there is a LOT of copper in those charger leads and it's really easy to cut them off.

It is. We simply have neither the means no infrastructure to support such nonsense at the rate that is being mandated.
Indeed, I understand the sales of EVs are WAY DOWN, as more people realize their short comings. to the point that dealers are REFUSING to accept deliveries because the cars they have on the lot aren't moving.
As far as the 'service advantage' how much service does a new car really require these days? for the first 120,000 miles you're talking oil changes and topping up fluids. Not a real big expense there.
And think of all the money you will save on the price of the ICE car.... 10s of thousands in most cases, along with lower taxes, lower insurance costs, lower financing costs.....

The building inspector and UL inspector were merciless.
No, they were requiring code compliance... which is their job.
Yes however in the county he lives in when changes are made to the infrastructure, the entire house
needs to be re-inspected and issued a CO.
getting grandfathered in requires special permission from
the county which is a royal PITA. He was able to accomplish it though.
The real problem with EV is for people who live in cities, or in large

A person is lucky to get a parking spot within 10 blocks of their house
let alone in front of it.
So what are they to do?
Live at the public charging stations?
The entire concept is ridiculous.
It is. We simply have neither the means no infrastructure to support such
nonsense at the rate that is being mandated.
It's not even close to being supported properly.
Indeed, I understand the sales of EVs are WAY DOWN, as more people
realize
their short comings. to the point that dealers are REFUSING to accept

The dealer's lots are full of unsold EVs. Tesla is the exception.
As far as the 'service advantage' how much service does a new car really
require these days? for the first 120,000 miles you're talking oil
changes
and topping up fluids. Not a real big expense there.
Pretty much and with the bumper to bumper or even just powertrain
warrantees offered these days
costs are pretty low and are only for normal wear items like brakes.
And think of all the money you will save on the price of the ICE car....
10s
of thousands in most cases, along with lower taxes, lower insurance
costs,
lower financing costs.....
Insurance companies are totaling EV's even if it's been involved in a relatively minor accident
because the parts are very expensive.
Meanwhile pollution in China is increasing at a rate to negate EVERYTHING
the rest of the world is doing to try to reduce emissions and where to
the
bulk of solar panels come from?
That's the biggest part of this scam. Joe Biden is destroying the fossil
fuel industry in the US
and taking the country from being energy independent to a dependency on foreign countries, some of
whom are our adversaries.
It's lunacy.
