• Cost of court transcripts

From micky@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jul 18 22:51:49 2025
Now that court transcripts and other legal documents are all
computerized, is it a lot cheaper to get a transcript if one, for
example, wishes to file an appeal?

IIRC they were 3 or 4 dollars a page 50 years ago which would be about
30 or 40 dollars a page now, and trial transcripts are long.

Now it should cost 10 or 20 dollars for a whole file, right?

I think you can tell, but just to be sure:

I don't specifically know, but I doubt it. The cost is for the transcriber
    - the person who takes it all down and types it up. Technology can help,
but may not be able to help much, because you still require the human
element to make sure all the words are taken down accurately, that the
person who is talking is accurately identified, and perhaps more things as well.
