• Can trump get expelled from court?

From micky@21:1/5 to All on Mon Apr 15 09:37:17 2024
When the judge tells trump that if he misbehaves in court, they can
proceed in his absence, is he telling him that if he acts up, he can
    have his days free?

Or is the alternative the judge has in mind making him sit in another
    room with a closed-circuit TV?

Surely the latter, but the summary I heard on the news, if that's what
trump heard, might have left him with the wrong idea?

I think you can tell, but just to be sure:

    I haven't been watching the proceedings, so I didn't hear the judge's
specific words about this. But I've always heard there are three
possibilities for how something like this is handled. One approach is
removal to a separate room where the defendant can watch on closed-circuit
TV. Not sure if they are really set up for this with the right security and equipment, etc., but perhaps they thought of that and planned for it. The problem is you're not really punishing him for his misbehavior but almost playing into his hands by giving him a private room to watch the
proceedings. A more satisfying approach for many would probably be for the judge to cite him for contempt and literally have him removed to a jail cell until he agrees to behave. Again, security would be a concern, though again they may have planned for this and already arranged to have a cell waiting. This could also play into Trump's hands by making him into a martyr. And
the last resort, and certainly the most dramatic, would literally be to have him bound and gagged and remain in the courtroom until agreeing to behave.
It's hard to believe any judge would order that on an ex-president, but who knows?
