We must have ages limits for the office of the President. 45-60 seems to be the sweet spot. What do you think?

Something came up that made me wonder if I'd missed something. I don't
like being wrong :-), so I did a bit more investigating, just in case.

I spent a while doing several Google searches.

Many newspaper articles (mostly from 2020) regarding whether Kamala
Harris qualifies as a "natural born citizen" seem to have been written
to intentionally confuse "natural born citizen" with "citizen". Other
articles are just outright wrong, claiming that merely being born on
U.S. territory qualifies as "natural born".

There's no question she's a "citizen": she was born in Oakland, CA, and
her parents weren't diplomats or other exceptions.

Being a "natural born citizen", however, additionally requires that both parents be U.S. citizens (either natural born or naturalized) at the
time of birth (although one article I saw suggested that "by the child's
16th birthday" was good enough, too). That's mainly so there's no
question of whether the child can be claimed as a citizen of a foreign
    country via the parents.

[E.g., a child born to U.S. citizen parents in a foreign country is
still a U.S. citizen. Similarly, a child born here to foreigners may
have citizenship in the parents' country. The case where only 1 parent
is a U.S. citizen is more complicated.]

Kamala's parents were from India and Jamaica. The father is a
naturalized citizen now, but the web page articles I looked at
(incl. Wikipedia) suggest he didn't become a naturalized citizen until
well after her birth in 1964. I didn't come across anything saying her
mother had ever become a U.S. citizen. In 1964, her parents were
foreigners here on student and work visas (IIUC), so, if that's right,
then neither was a U.S. citizen.

These 2 references looked they actually knew what they were talking
about regarding the legal definition of "natural born citizen" in the
    U.S.:

    https://www.jayweller.com/natural-born-citizen-defined/

    https://constitutioncenter.org/blog/the-birthright-citizenship-debate-returns-for-2020-election

In any case, it looks like what I posted previously is not wrong,

When classified documents are mishandled an investigation needs to
be done. Normally this is done by the regular FBI agents and prosecutors
in the DOJ. However, the law requires special prosecutor in some cases involving people like the president or someone who is a declared
    candidate for the president.

Garland appointed a special prosecutor for the Biden case right away,
    as the law required.

When Trump declared himself a candidate the law required a special
    prosecutor and one was appointed.

Until Trump declared himself a candidate the investigation was
being done in Garland's slow methodical style. Now that it is out
of Garland's chain of command it's being handled by someone
with a track record of actively and successfully pursuing corruption
and other crime by government officials (democrat and Republican).
Trump has publicly attempt to deliberately taking the documents,
an then proceeded to obstruct the recovery.

So far there is no evidence Biden deliberately took the documents,
it likely they were packed up by a sloppy assistant. Biden has
promptly returned the documents. It is likely that the special
prosecutor will conclude that there is no case here.

    action was criminal.
Then why is AG Garland going after Biden? Thanks to Biden, Trump walks. LOL.
Where did you read that? They are two separate cases and will be investigated as such...

Trump walks? HaHa. That is NOT how justice is served.

Other articles are just outright wrong, claiming that merely being born on
U.S. territory qualifies as "natural born".

That's mainly so there's no
question of whether the child can be claimed as a citizen of a foreign country via the parents.

[E.g., a child born to U.S. citizen parents in a foreign country is
still a U.S. citizen. Similarly, a child born here to foreigners may
have citizenship in the parents' country. The case where only 1 parent
is a U.S. citizen is more complicated.]

Kamala's parents were from India and Jamaica. The father is a
naturalized citizen now, but the web page articles I looked at
(incl. Wikipedia) suggest he didn't become a naturalized citizen until
well after her birth in 1964. I didn't come across anything saying her
mother had ever become a U.S. citizen. In 1964, her parents were
foreigners here on student and work visas (IIUC), so, if that's right,
then neither was a U.S. citizen.

These 2 references looked they actually knew what they were talking
about regarding the legal definition of "natural born citizen" in the
    U.S.:

    https://www.jayweller.com/natural-born-citizen-defined/

    https://constitutioncenter.org/blog/the-birthright-citizenship-debate-returns-for-2020-election

In any case, it looks like what I posted previously is not wrong,
    -WBE

Thanks for your valued opinion Winston..

I think the technical term for this argument is "hogwash".

Being a "natural born citizen" simply means that the person did not
acquire citizenship through "naturalization", like Rupert Murdoch or
Elon Musk. Usually, Americans get citizenship simply because they
were born in the territory of the United States, and such people
are natural born citizens. However if someone if born in foreign
territory, and one or both parents are US citizens, the child is
a natural born citizen of the US provided the parents register
the child as a US citizen.

That is how Ted Cruz came to be a natural born citizen of the USA,
even though he was born in Canada and only recently renounced his
    Canadian citizenship.
His mother was an American citizen and his father was a naturalized
Canadian citizen; many years later his father became a naturalized
    US citizen.

There are quite a large number of natural born US citizens who
were born outside the USA. Military and diplomatic personnel
    serving abroad do have babies.

You're a wise man Alan. The GOP with the 'Shit Show' is the biggest threat to our country.
I call for removing or *disposing* a few of the worst crazies in Congress. We all know who they are.
