    Well Apple consistently makes a profit and pays a dividend, Tesla pays
    no dividend and its profit record is spotty.

    However, if you are just starting, don't touch either.
    Start with a broad market ETF like SPY. You will get regular
    dividends and exposure to a lot of stock including a bit of Apple
    (likely some Tesla too) without the risk of a single stock.
    Later on you can add individual stocks.

    Apple ( APPL) would be my choice.
