  • Thunderbird problem

    WIN XP PRO UP TO DATE
    THUNDERBITD V 38.0 SAYS UP TO DATE

    I have several email accounts set up on Thunderbird on this PC.

    Tying to add a hotmail.com account that I already have set up on another
    pc running Thunderbird. It is active on this other PC.

    TBird says it cannot set it up on this pc.
    I verified the email address and the password.

    "THUNDERBIRD FAILED TO FIND SETTINGS FOR YOUR ACCOUNT."

    Install defaults to
    IMAP .hotmail.com Auto Autodetect autodetect

    What to do ?

    You need XP SP3 with update KB2763674 to install Thunderbird 52.9.1
    directly.

    IIRC Thunderbird 38 should have an option to set the account settings
    manually. Copy the settings from your other PC running Thunderbird.

    You need to tell it that you want to set it up manually. TBird
    is a pain that way. It tries to set things up automatically and
    then just refuses to add the account when it fails. But somewhere
    along the way there's an option to just tell it to shut up and
    let you do it. I just don't recall the exact steps.
