There is no default shortcut to start Word, but you can assign one. Right-click the desktop icon for the program and choose Properties,
and fill in the Shortcut Key box in the dialog.
If you don't yet have a desktop icon, go to the folder (a
version-specific folder under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office) that contains WinWord.exe; right-click that file and choose Send To >
Desktop.

I have a user that complains of a blank Word Doc opening randomly. I
suspect
he may be accidentally keying a shortcut or something because his computer
has been replaced this year and it continues to happen. Does anyone know >> > what the keyboard shortcut for opening Word is?
Thanks!!

As weird as it sounds he probably isn't lying. No more than 10 minutes ago I was sitting here with my cat not touching the keyboard or mouse and randomly Word opened and a blank doc popped up. My cat and I were quite creeped out, sadly no cryptic message
appeared. Just a blank word doc with no flashing cursor....
