• graphics card in debian

From tim wade@21:1/5 to All on Wed Mar 19 04:10:01 2025
    Hello list,

    My OS:
    $ lsb_release -cd
    No LSB modules are available.
    Description: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)
    Codename: bookworm

How can I check the graphics card model of my computer and how can I
test the floating-point computing capability of the graphics card?

    Thanks in advance.

In addition or alternative to Jeremy's answers, the following can provide a somewhat comprehensive operational status, useful in issue diagnosis:

    inxi -GSaz

The inxi version's GPU output in Bookworm is partly broken, thus it is best to install or upgrade to the backport version, or the latest upstream version from:
    https://smxi.org/docs/inxi-installation.htm#inxi-manual-install

    sudo lspci -v | grep -A 1 -i "VGA compatible controller"

I don't think you need elevated privileges for that.

Not strictly, but with "-v" (and higher), sudo will give you more
    to read :-)

IOW: there are attributes only the boss is allowed to see.

Without root you can get the model. For the floating-point
computing capability of the graphics card, I wouldn't know.
Does root with the "v" flag provide that info?

I have no idea what you are after, but serve yourself (caveat:
lowly hardware around here, so better try for yourself):

    tomas@caliban:~$ lspci -v -s 00:02.0
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520] (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

    tomas@caliban:~$ sudo lspci -v -s 00:02.0

Fine. Then we can consider the case resolved?
