And with suricata removed, digiKam now runs, but when I attempt an
import, it says my date-time format is wrong. Check settings. ?? AKA

Have you managed to fix it? The most suspicious entry in relation to
    camera issues.

OpenSCAD now opens a file selector in sub-second, but PrusaSlicer is
still lagging, work ok once its drawn its screen, it did lag before.
Outputs several screensfull of gtk-critical msgs while waiting so that
is  a different rabbit hole. Most if not all gtk tools and librarys
    installed.

Do you have zfs volumes? Otherwise I would purge related packages.
No zfs that I know of, everything is ext4.

What applications installed as .deb packages from official Debian
repositories are affected by that delay issues? Various 3rd party,
AppImage's, etc. are more complicated cases.

At this time, I haven't a clue how to determine what deb is a later
install vs what the installer put in originally.

It does not matter if it was installed initially or later. Asking for official Debian packages I am trying to avoid complications with 3rd
party applications (e.g. you wrote that digikam is an AppImage, so it
is better to postpone its debugging). It might be some editor that you mentioned previous time.

I also have not had to bypass a save draft msg from t-bird, so it looks
like nuking suricata was the magic spell
    .

    Cheers, Gene Heskett, CET.

As I've just played with zfs, the zfs packages to purge are these:

    libnvpair3linux libuutil3linux libzfs4linux libzpool5linux zfs-dkms zfs-zed zfsutils-linux
