    Also, yum is meant for handling RPM packages, which Debian does not
    use to begin with.

    Why do you want to install yum? This smells strongly of a XY problem;
    there is almost certainly a better way to do what you _actually_ want
    to do on Debian.

    If you need to install some RPM package in debian, you might want to use "alien" for it.

    What release do you have?

    You might want to install one of the following PKG:
    - `yum4`
    - `dnf`
    - `nextgen-yum4`
