Sorry to ear it. Did it been laid off? Is it eligible for unemployment benefits?

More seriously, start by explaining your problem with more accuracy than “does not work”.

What drives such a hostile and uncalled-for reply?

It was sarcastic, but in no way hostile.

And you might notice that (1) it also contained the useful answer and
    (2) it is for now the only reply. So we might wonder which is best: no
reply at all, or a reply with sarcasm that inattentive readers might
    take for hostility?

I encourage you to re-read what you wrote.

Having read and re-read Nicolas' mail several times, and being unable to
detect any hostility but plenty of sarcasm, I can only conclude that
"cultural differences" are the trigger here.

"no reply at all" is a better alternative.

    Hi Lina,

It would be helpful for everyone to know a few more details.

This is an Intel Mac. If it has a touchbar, does the touchbar still work? [Signs of life]

Did you install only Debian or does the machine still have MacOS on it as
    well.
[Can you boot another operating system to check]

At what point does the internal keyboard stop working? Does it not work
    from the outset?

Which boot medium did you use to install Debian? Where - which link - did
    you download it from?
[There is a boot medium marked for Mac but this is for one specific model
of *old* Mac that has problems with disk layout. That should not be used -
    use the amd64 .iso]

I note that the external keyboard that you plug in has a dvorak layout: I assume that you have a Mac that does not have a dvorak layout built in.
If you install a us layout or a country-specific layout does that make a difference?

I notice that you also messaged debian-devel and said that you would come
back to debian-user: it would be very helpful for problem-solving if you
could reply to the questions above. Reply to this email set to the
    debian-user list.

What drives such a hostile and uncalled-for reply?

Below are point to point responses.

    The touchbar does not work.

AskUbuntu pointed to the following resource: https://github.com/Dunedan/mbp-2016-linux#keyboard--touchpad

Later model Macbook Pro may have T2 chips and so on.

Did you install only Debian or does the machine still have MacOS on it as well.

I kept the Mac OS, the internal keyboard works fine with Mac OS.

    Fine.

At what point does the internal keyboard stop working? Does it not work from the outset?

It does not work starting from booting the system, it works before select which system to boot, namely when I pressed the Option key it allows me to
    go to the Mac OS.

Which boot medium did you use to install Debian? Where - which link - did you download it from?

I downloaded the latest, stable version, amd64 DVD version,

Fine: There will be another point release of Debian (12.7) scheduled for
    next weekend on August 31st.

In both Mac OS and external-keyboard, the dvorak layout works well.

    OK

I was dodging a little bit as the first response I got, I was not
    comfortable to engage the reply.

    Absolutely understood.

I am here now, and hope to fix the problem as I NEED this laptop to work
    with Linux.

Thanks very much for the help, best, lina
