Given that we're a world-wide volunteer effort, if we didn't distribute
test images on the Internet, it's not obvious how they could ever get tested (there's no corporate headquarters, nor an in-house test team).

The stable release however has survived rather a lot of testing, and is generally quite decent -- I recommend you give that a try instead.

It is linked to prominently on the https://debian.org website (note the "Download" button) -- just in case, the link is:
