Hello Debian CD team!
My request is to have a permanent link to the latest Debian stable ISO image on the debian-cd repository.
We have a "current" folder on "https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/";, but the ISO images in the iso-cd, iso-dvd and iso-bd folders have the version identifier (currently 12.6.0) and will be replaced by newer ones in the next point release (12.7.0). This makes a little difficult to get the latest Debian
stable ISO image in an automated fashion.
Can we have a symlink like one of the following:
https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/amd64/iso-cd/debian-12-latest-amd64-netinst.iso
https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/amd64/iso-cd/debian-stable-latest-amd64-netinst.iso
Pointing to the latest release of the Debian stable CD ISO image?
After chatting with Andrés off-list (he is a long-time colleague of mine in several LUGs and laboratories in Mexico City), I cannot but endorse his suggestion. This change would only require adding a set of symlinks (one for each {suite,named_release,architecture}¹ to our images in the mirrors, and will
most probably help discoverability and automation for our software.
¹ i.e. suite => {oldstable,stable,testing,unstable};
named_release => {sid,trixie,bookworm,bullseye,...};
architecture => {amd64,arm64,armel,armhf,riscv64,...}
