• Updating libica to new SONAME on s390?

From Petter Reinholdtsen@21:1/5 to All on Tue Nov 26 10:30:01 2024
    Dear s390 porters,

I had a look at the orphaned library libica in Debian, and thought it
might be a good idea to bring it in sync with Ubuntu. The result is now
    in <URL: https://salsa.debian.org/debian/libica >. But updating the
package to a new SONAME and library package name will affect two other
s390 packages maintained by Paulo Vital which uses a email vendor
rejecting my emails. And of course it would have to go through NEW,
with the delay that introduces. As far as I can tell, Paulo Vital is
not active any more, and was last uploading in 2017. I thus suspect
both the s390 specific packages opencryptoki and openssl-ibmca in
    reality are orphaned too.

Anyone here care enough about s390x to have an opinion on what the
    correct approach is.

Perhaps I should upload the new upstream version to experimental for
now, and leave the rest of the issue for someone else to figure out?

I guess the silence means that no-one really care that much, and
uploaded version 4.3.1-1 to experimental. Should show up there once it
    clear NEW. <URL: https://salsa.debian.org/debian/libica > is updated.
