Faster is always better, of course. If you have the possibilities,
I would recommend obtaining a SPARC T4 or newer as this server is
still supported by the latest version of Oracle Solaris 11.4 CBE [1].
Then install Oracle Solaris 11.4 CBE in the primary domain and install
Debian Linux or Gentoo Linux inside a logical domain (LDOM) [2].
Once the LDOM is installed, provide root access for it to the GCC Compile
Farm maintainers [3] so they can configure the LDOM to become part of their machine park available to the open source community. This would really be helpful to support SPARC open-source development.
You can also, of course, install Debian or Gentoo bare-metal on your T5240
and let the GCC Compile Farm maintainers configure your machine.
