• Release-notes: outdated translations

From Holger Wansing@21:1/5 to All on Sun Jun 15 23:50:02 2025
    Hi all,

I have looked into translations of release-notes, and there are several languages, that did not receive any translator's work for many many years
    (up to 16 years).

    Here's a list:

    Last translation update:

    outdated very-outdated

    be 2009
    ca 2021
    cs 2011
    da 2017
    de 2025
    el 2023
    es 2024
    fi 2009
    fr 2023
    gl 2023
    it 2024
    ja 2025
    lt 2009
    ml 2009
    nb 2009
    nl 2023
    pl 2025
    pt_br 2023
    pt 2025
    ro 2019
    ru 2024
    sk 2017
    sv 2024
    vi 2009
    zh_cn 2025
    zh_tw 2010

Would it be ok, to drop the build for at least the very outdated languages? Most content will be in English anyway now...

I plan to sent a mail to debian-i18n, with a call for translation updates,
but for languages that don't get any translation work, I would vote
    for disabling them for Trixie.

    Holger

I think that's a reasonable thing to do.

    Done.

I think that's a reasonable thing to do.

    Done.

As you may have noticed, the release-notes don't get updated on the website currently.
The version at the website is stuck at the state from 2025-06-19.
Since it's not clear to me, why exactly this happens [1], I have reverted
four of my commits, which happened past this date, to see if this fixes
    the issue.
That includes the change proposed above as well (or maybe it's in fact
    the reason?).

    Holger

    [1]
The build of the release-notes ifself is successful on wolkenstein,
    but the copy from
    /srv/www.debian.org/cron/tmp/usr/share/doc/release-notes/
    to
    /srv/www.debian.org/www/releases/trixie/
no longer happens, for unknown reasons.
(This is triggered in https://salsa.debian.org/webmaster-team/cron/-/blob/master/parts/7release-notes?ref_type=heads#L263 )

In fact, it works again now.
