• Bug#1110054: source Package-List contains invalid priority

    From Paul Tagliamonte@21:1/5 to All on Mon Jul 28 23:30:01 2025
    Package: node-d3-force
    Severity: normal
    thanks

    As seen on `apt showsrc node-d3-force` or looking at the Sources index
    on the archive:

    ```
    Package: node-d3-force
    ...
    Package-List:
    node-d3-force deb javascript unknown arch=all
    ```

    The priority there ('unknown') is invalid per https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-priorities

    This may be a bug elsewhere, but since node-d3-force is the only package
    in the archive to show this, I'm starting here. The resulting binary package is correct anyway (and therefore `apt show node-d3-force` is fine).

    Thanks for all you work!

    I couldn't put this down - I looked through dpkg and debhelper; both
    looked to handle this correctly.

    I just ran a rebuild of the sources (dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -S) and
    it produced a correct Package-List:

    ```
    Package-List:
    node-d3-force deb javascript optional arch=all
    ```

    How was this .dsc generated? Whatever tool made it may have an error when handling a missing Priority field; this bug should likely get reassigned
    that way.

    paultag nerd-sniped me with this one. Rebuilding it on unstable shows that
    the problem is fixed; when rebuilt with stable, however, we end up with the wrong priority value.

    I'm tempted to say that this is fixed, but really, someone from the team
    should just submit a no-change version bump to regenerate the .dsc file.

    Sincerely,

    Hello. I went ahead and did exactly that, a no-changes upload.

    Would the RT accept this for trixie, considering that it's an anomaly
    that affects a single package and it was trivial to fix?
    (If yes, I'll file an unblock request).

    Thanks.
