    Hi,

I'm sorry, I was also unaware of this issue.

I have just uploaded 1.20250430+ds-1 to experimental. I'm tagging this bug
as "fixed", please help confirm if this update solves your issue and it can
    be closed.

    Thanks!

    – Gunnar.

I can confirm that my last two Raspberry Pi SD cards that I still have
can boot just fine with the firmware from experimental. No strange error messages in debug output.

I apologize for not being able to give a better answer since I have
converted most of my raspis to USB boot in the mean time, and I haven't
written down which SD cards were the ones that the old firmware didn't
like. And, I probably had the same firmware version already installed
    before.

I can confirm that updating a Debian unstable from april to today's sid
did break booting, but that might also have been u-boot and grub
related. But also during that unstable upgrade, the raspi-firmware
package from unstable got installed which probably overwrote the
firmware with the 2024 version. I just upgraded the firmware manually
again to make the system boot again.

Too bad that we're going to releas trixie with the old firmware now. But
that's something that we can't change. Thank you for caring abot the
Raspberry Pi, and I apologize for not talking to you more on Debconf. It
was a busy conference for both of us, I think.

    Greetings
    Marc

true, though this sounds like it qualifies for 13.1, no?

Thanks! This is much better confirmation (and testing) than what I did as
the package maintainer. I dared upload untested firmware to Experimental because, well, it is Experimental after all... but I would not like pushing this package without your confirmation to Unstable. Now (modulo eight more days), I'll be happy to rebuild+upload!

I can confirm that updating a Debian unstable from april to today's

Ugh. But then again, I'm very happy this update does fix it.

But that's something that we can't change. Thank you for caring abot
    the Raspberry Pi,

As Holger answered, once the package lands in Forky (Testing), I will
upload it as well to s-p-u.

Thanks for your report and for your follow-up!

and I apologize for not talking to you more on Debconf. It was a busy >conference for both of us, I think.

Of course. I was happy to see you. Having my family with me, and being in
the off-site accomodation, I missed out on all of the after-dinner social interactions. But that is DebConf, after all -- Talked with many people, advanced on many technical fronts, did a lot of things, but there is always
_SO MUCH_ we cannot do... ☺

Hope to see you next year!

I'm curious to see how a binary-only package with so many changes can
qualify for an s-p-u upload? There's a full year difference and no way
(that I know of) to check the changes before/after.

    Maybe you meant trixie-backports?

    Cheers,
