• Bug#1110003: apt-eatmydata: wrong LD_LIBRARY_PATH

From Marcel Partap@21:1/5 to All on Mon Jul 28 02:50:01 2025
    Package: apt-eatmydata
    Version: 1
    Severity: normal
    X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]

.. thought I had reported this before (around 2022-07-26? because that's what my vim swap file is dated) but can't find it, so trying again now: the LD_LIBRARY_PATH set in line 78 of /usr/libexec/apt-eatmydata/dpkg has changed from /usr/lib/libeatmydata to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu etc.. probably a lOong time ago. Best Regards!

This file is supposed to be a symlink to /usr/bin/eatmydata.

Supposedly if you edited it manually, it might have been replaced
with a file. In this case I would suggest reinstalling
    apt-eatmydata.

There existed numerous guides for using (lib)eatmydata with dpkg and
probably you followed one in 2022.
The first official upload of this package took place in 2025 and it
never changed the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, just shipped a symlink as Chris
    pointed out: https://salsa.debian.org/debian/apt-eatmydata/-/tree/master/debian?ref_type=heads

    Cheers,
    Balint
