    Package: cloud.debian.org
    Severity: important
    X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]

    Dear Maintainer,

the default /etc/apt/sources.list file of the generic cloud image contains entries for the removed repository bullseye-backports which results in the following error message for apt update:

E: The repository 'http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-backports Release' does not have a Release file.

Furthermore the apt update commands exits with the error code 100 which leads to errors in software checking the exit code.

The repository entries for bullseye-backports should be removed from the sources.list file as the repository no longer exists on the mirrors.

    Thanks and best regards,
    Jens

E: The repository 'http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-backports Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

For the standard bullseye images, this will be fixed with the next image update, which should happen in the next couple of days.

For the bullseye-backports images, this is blocked on https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1109891, which
prevents us from publishing a fix because it breaks some image builds.
This will be fixed with the next src:linux update for bullseye, but
there's no clear timeline for that at this time.

For the standard bullseye images, release pipeline https://salsa.debian.org/cloud-admin-team/debian-cloud-images-release/-/pipelines/901132
successfully published to Azure (now it needs more time to work through
Azure's internal validation before it goes live).

Generic (for Openstack, etc) and nocloud image variants are also now
    available for download at https://cloud.debian.org/images/cloud/bullseye/latest/

However, the Amazon EC2 uploads failed due to a service timeout. This
failure requires manual cleanup, so it will be some time before the fix
is available there. I'll follow up here when that's complete.
