• Bug#1109153: Session crashes after login from SDDM

    From =?utf-8?b?QW5kcmV3IExlZSAo5p2O5YGl5@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jul 12 17:00:02 2025
    Package: lxqt-wayland-session
    Version: 0.1.1-2
    Severity: grave
    X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]

    I tested this package with LXQT installation from D-I Trixie RC2 image.
    The session appears in SDDM to select. However the session crashes after
    login into SDDM.

    This should be a RC bug. Please fix it for Trixie release.

    Best regards,

    -Andrew

    Actually the thing reported is designed to be at the moment.
    For users who do not install a wayland compositor, the wayland session
    of lxqt will crash.

    There are two necessary configurations in the
    $HOME/.config/lxqt/session.

    ```
    compositor=labwc
    lock_command_wayland=swaylock
    ```

    the compositor means wayland compositor, and the lock_command_wayland
    stands for screensaver in wayland session.

    For myself, I use labwc and swaylock.
    Others could replace labwc with wayfire, kwin, mutter, and etc;
    and replace swaylock with gtklock or waylock (unavailable for debian).

    Cause lxqt is designed to be independent of wayland compositors or
    x11 window managers, it may not be encouraged to ship lxqt with a
    default wayland compositor.

    The whole LXQt desktop are also independent of window manager, but
    Debian provides a default window manager for LXQt users who expected
    the desktop should works out of box after installed lxqt metapackage.

    For our point of view of packaging. We should provide out of box works experience for our users. So, at least one supported Wayland compositor
    should be installed in addition to lxqt-wayland-session for it to be used.
