Steps to reproduce it:
start blender in a console (to see de errors)
go to scene panel (f10)
in render window change "blender internal" to "yafray"
go to "yafray" tab and unpress the "XML" button.
press F12 to render

That's the output:

whirm@3[~]$ blender
Starting scene conversion.
Scene conversion done.
Error loading yafray plugin: blender-bin: undefined symbol: getYafray

Blender quit
