• Bug#140673: Consider polling all stopped printers at powerup time?

From Jeff Bailey@1:229/2 to All on Wed Aug 18 14:30:14 2004
    From: [email protected]

If I write a patch that checks all STOPPED printers at start time to see
if they can be started, would you consider applying this patch?
Printers are expensive (electricity-wise) to keep on all the time. I
don't mind rebooting the computer, but my wife is non-technical, and
life would become much easier if a reboot would just solve the problem.
    =)

    Tks,
    Jeff Bailey

Well, if your patch is for only init script, I can accept it soon for
    next revision.

If your patch is for CUPS source code, I hold it. It is better to
suggest it at upstream BTS (http://www.cups.org/str.php).
Of course I can forward it to upstream author, but his BTS hasn't Cc:
feature and I'm afraid such delegation losts your real thought by my
    cheap English skill.

(In Debian, cups is under tiff migration at now, so next upload will
be done after current version is accepted. And I haven't a plan to
    upload newer version to Sarge)

    Thanks,
