• Bug#266530: slocate: manual page - more explicit that match expressions

    Package: slocate
    Version: 2.7-2
    Severity: minor

I'd like to propose that the manual page would be more explicit that
that search string can only be "pure string" and not any kind or
shell or regular expression. I was temptated to use:

    slocate package*deb

just to find out from experimenting that shell wiildcards are not
available. (Btw, Im windering why the paragraphs in manual are
    indended? It's uncustomary).

    PROPOSAL IN WORDING

    DESCRIPTION

Secure Locate provides a secure way to index and quickly search
for files on your system. It uses incremental encoding just
like GNU locate to compress its database to make searching
faster, but it will also store file permissions and ownership
so that users will not see files they do not have access to.
+ Note that the search string _does_ not support any form of
+ wildcards, only individual characters to search.
