• Bug#188364: apt should handle nonexistent cache directory gracefully

From Dan Christensen@1:229/2 to All on Tue Aug 17 22:00:14 2004

I think it's fair to expect that if the contents of

    /var/cache/apt/archives/

are excluded from backups, then after restoring, apt should do what it
needs to do in order to work correctly. I've been bit by this several
times, and it's just one extra thing to worry about when restoring
    after a disk failure.

Could you consider adding code to make the directories if they aren't
    present?

    Thanks,

    Dan
