    No, in term of usability this feature is completely annoying. I don't
    want to see gtktalog loading my 200 MB catalog each time I open gtktalog
    to load a 100KB catalog file.
    Also, I've never seen this feature in any other application.

    It is annoying for you, but definitely not for me, as I don't have a
    200Mb catalog file and I only have and use only one catalog file.
    gtkatalog could be made to solve both mine and your needs by having a
    "Reopen last catalog on startup" preference defaulting to off.

    I've seen this feature in applications working with playlists, pim data,
    and probably some more.

    I'm reopening this bug because I think that my suggestion still stands;
    you're free to close it again and I won't reopen it, according to what
    appears to be the current non-written practice on wishlist bugs.
