• Bug#266254: dosfstools: dosfsck and largefile?

From Thorben Thuermer@1:229/2 to All on Tue Aug 17 10:40:12 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Package: dosfstools
    Version: 2.10-1
    Severity: important

it's a bit unclear if dosfsck supports checking filesystems >2gb or not,
the package i am reporting here is simply compiled without largefile, and
fails to even open large filesystems

    # dosfsck image
    dosfsck 2.10, 22 Sep 2003, FAT32, LFN
    open image:File too large

(i am trying to repair a 7gb filesystem image copied off a bad disk)
looking at the source, there is no mention of largefile support at all,
after compiling with -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 from
source, it seems to work, but fails later, where i am not sure if this is caused by a problem with the image size, or coruption of the filesystem: Checking file /some/path/..
Got 0 bytes instead of 32 at 7848908800
(the image file is only 6765191280 bytes)

it seems that it should either be clarified that large FSs are not
supported, or the package should be compiled with largefile enabled
    - it seems that is is rather useless without, as most filesystems
    will be >2g nowadays.
