I don't know how to re-open the original bug for this, so I'm opening a new one. I apologize if this is not the best way to address this problem, but it seems very desirable to get this into the queue of release-critical sarge
bugs. See bug #251307 for the full description and patch to fix. Andreas Metzler suggested re-opening this bug on debian-x (see
http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2004/08/msg00083.html), but doesn't seem
to have followed up, so I thought it would be a good idea to get some incarnation of it as a sarge problem into the BTS.
thanks
