Severity: normal
When /etc/modules.conf is edited some packages will not upgrade
properly. This file suggests to look at the manpage of update-modules.
When this program is run to update the above file, it fails with this
error:
# update-modules
Error: the current /etc/modules.conf is not automatically generated.
Use "update-modules force" to force (re)generation.
Trying the suggestion fails with:
# update-modules force
Error: the current /etc/modules.conf is not automatically generated.
Use "update-modules force" to force (re)generation.
However, the manpage mentions that update-modules simply calls update-modules.modutils:
# update-modules.modutils
Error: the current /etc/modules.conf is not automatically generated.
Use "update-modules force" to force (re)generation.
And
# update-modules.modutils force
Error: the current /etc/modules.conf is not automatically generated.
force specified, (re)generating file anyway.
So, either:
1. the update-modules wrapper script should pass the parameter options
2. the error warning should state:
Error: the current /etc/modules.conf is not automatically generated.
Use "update-modules.modutils force" to force (re)generation.
