• Bug#266100: xfree86-driver-synaptics: Can't access shared memory area.

    From Ludovic Rousseau@1:229/2 to All on Mon Aug 16 20:20:09 2004

    Package: xfree86-driver-synaptics
    Version: 0.13.5-1
    Severity: normal

    Hello,

    My synaptics pointer works since I can use the extra 4-direction key and perform a middle click with two fingers. Thanks for the Debian package,
    my life will be easier :-)

    But I can't use synclient or syndaemon:
    $ synclient -h
    Can't access shared memory area. SHMConfig disabled?

    extract from /var/log/XFree86.0.log:
    [...]
    (==) Keyboard: CustomKeycode disabled

    (**) |-->Input Device "Generic Mouse"

    (II) 3rd Button detected: disabling emulate3Button

    etc.

    The first time I login after gdm starts I have a different error message:
    Incorrect size of shared memory area. Incompatible driver version?
    The second time I login I have:
    Can't access shared memory area. SHMConfig disabled?

    So the shared memory segment is created but something is wrong
    somewhere.

    I am using Debian sid.

    Thanks,
