• Bug#266056: Can not find certain URLs

    From Juhapekka Tolvanen@1:229/2 to All on Mon Aug 16 17:10:15 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Package: elinks
    Version: 0.9.1+0.9.2pre4-1

    Try this:

    elinks http://arstechnica.com/news/posts/20040813-4098.html

    It just gives error dialog that says: "Host not found". Igf you try the
    same URL with any WWW-browser, it works fine.

    I have no problems connecting to this server.

    You could try and turn off asynchronous DNS[1]. Or have you already tried
    that?

    [1] Open the 'Option manager' (by pressing 'o') then expand the
    'Connections' folder (by pressing Space) and edit 'Asynchronous DNS'.

    I tried that and did not help at all.

    Works for me too.

    Do you use your own name server (localhost) or some external one? Did you changed anything in /etc/hosts or /etc/host.conf?

    I use external name server. /etc/hosts has just these lines uncommented:

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    130.234.191.114 heresy.ainola.jyu.fi heresy

    # The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
    # (added automatically by netbase upgrade)

    ::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
    fe00::0 ip6-localnet
    ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
    ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
    ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
    ff02::3 ip6-allhosts

    /etc/host.conf has just these lines:

    order hosts,bind
    multi on
