Package: tclvfs
Version: 1.2.1-2
Severity: important
First of all, tclvfs doesn't depend on tclX.X package. It is strange,
because it is completely useless without Tcl interpreter. It seems
that dependency of tcl8.4||tcl8.3 should be added manually into package
control file.
Second, some virtual filesystem implementations require some additional
Tcl extensions which are provided by separate Debian packages (or not provided at all in Debian).
So, tclvfs should at least Recommend tcllib debian package (which includes ftp and base64 Tcl packages, which are needed for ftp and webdav fs to work)
Other important Tcl extension, required for proper operation of zip and
tar filesystems is Trf extension, which provide various useful data transformation (such as compression/decompression)
Unfortunately, Trf (which have many uses outside tclvfs) is not packaged
for Debian yet.
I've made unofficial package which is avaliable from
deb-src
http://ftp.45.free.net/debian sarge tcl (
http://ftp.45.free.net/debian/dists/sarge/tcl/trf_2.1p2*)
which can be used as base if someone of Debian tcl maintainers decide to maintain this package.
In any case, README.Debian should be added to the package and describe
limited functionality of package in the absense of Trf extension and
where to get it (tcltrf.sf.net).
