Hi,

I cannot get the alsasink sink to work wit my VIA 8235 card, as it only supports 48kHz output and GNOME seems to be using some other rate. The
card works properly with ALSA when used from xine, totem-xine, xmms (w/xmms-alsa plugin), and also works indirectly through esd with the esd-alsa plugin.

This bug report (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148145) seems
to be related to this problem, at least in concept.

The audioscale ALSA plug-in does "magic" and makes it work, for
instance:

Additional debug info:

Whereas:

audioscale ! alsasink
RUNNING pipeline ...

... and audio is played.

But I haven't been able
to force an audio rate scale from my .asoundrc, despite borrowing some
examples from the net. I also tried using "audioscale ! alsasink" as my
GNOME audio sink, but that didn't work either; I'm not sure it's
supposed to take that kind of input, though.
