• Bug#263403: no german umlauts when dpkg-reconfiguring console-data

From Christian Perrier@1:229/2 to All on Sun Aug 15 10:40:07 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Quoting Christian Gatzemeier ([email protected]):
    Package: console-data
    Version: 2002.12.04dbs-43
    Severity: minor

Was originally part of a sarge install report:
Bug#240721: localisation set during install is not active afterwards

I noticed that, although "umlauts" seem to work fine in
    "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86", "base-config" or on the console
itself, in "dpkg-reconfigure console-data" the umlauts are not there. Instead a uppercase "A" with a "tilde" on top followed by a cryptic character or euro sign appears.

Dennis, can you make a final check about this bug: fixed or not?

A few days ago I installed RC1 testing. I had no problems with language
or umlauts. Installing & Base-config were fine. The same for console and
    X. Umlauts, EURO-Sign, .. were okay.

But, in "dpkg-reconfigure console-data", umlauts are really broken...

I installed a unstable box and it is fixed. But I think I have to keep a
    eye on this.

This is probably because console-data is -43 in testing, I
    guess...while kbd-config uses data from -44
