I believe this is not a bug.
However, if you believe that's a bug, then feel free to set the "ignoreUninstalledPrograms" to True in the app-defaults/XScreenSaver
file you install -- that will cause it to not print an error message if
the program could not be run. It will also cause uninstalled programs
to not show up in the xscreensaver-demo list at all (as opposed to
appearing there but being grayed out.)
It's also pretty embarrassing when that happens.
I suggest you get out more!
