• Bug#262941: Possible fix

    I run debian unstable powerpc.
I seem to have experienced the same problem described here when upgrading to kernel 2.6.7 and doing an apt-get upgrade at the same time, and now by merely upgrading to 2.6.8 (but this time I didn't have problems finding the access concentrator). I had
installed a bare-bones woody and then dist-upgraded to unstable.

Now I'm running pppoeconf 1.0.4 and pppoe (powerpc) 3.5-3: I shouldn't have loaded the pppoe kernel module, see:

After experiencing the problem and trying to use older version or the pppoe module with no success, I finally got pppoe working well by removing the /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider file altogether and running pppoeconf to reconfigure the connection. It
worked when upgrading to 2.6.7 and again now.

I thought I entered the same parameters when reconfiguring pppoe but the diff shows some differences... anyway here is the old file which worked for 2.6.7 and the one for 2.6.8 (i don't have the pre-2.6.7 one), followed by the diff. I hope they are of
    some help.
