Package: ppp
Version: 2.4.2+20040427-1
Severity: normal
Weeks ago I installed and started using kernel 2.6.
As all was well, I decided to
apt-get --purge remove alsa-modules-2.4.26-1-k7
apt-get --purge remove kernel-image-2.4.26-1-k7
as I hadn't used them in ages.
Well, now I can't call out:
pppd: This system lacks kernel support for PPP. This could be because
the PPP kernel module could not be loaded, or because PPP was not
included in the kernel configuration. If PPP was included as a
module, try `/sbin/modprobe -v ppp'. If that fails, check that
ppp.o exists in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/net.
See README.linux file in the ppp distribution for more details.
# /sbin/modprobe -v ppp
FATAL: Failed to open config file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa: No such file or directory
etc. etc.
Your docs don't mention 2.6 a tiny bit.
I could use ppp on 2.6, now I must use it on 2.4!!!
