Package: aptitude
Version: 0.2.15.6-1
Severity: wishlist
It's easy to synchronize the packages between two Debian systems using
"dpkg --get-selections" on one machine and "dpkg --set-selections" on the other. However, when doing so, the "automatically installed" aptitude flags are lost. It would be nice if aptitude had a corresponding facility, something like
# aptitude --get-selections
[...]
emacs deinstall
vim install
vim-common install-auto
which could be used with:
# aptitude --set-selections < package-list.txt
# aptitude dselect-upgrade
or something similar. Right now, once can do this with something like
# aptitude show '~M' | grep ^Package
and a little bit of awk, xargs, and "aptitude markauto", but it would be
nice if aptitude extended the dpkg functionality.
Thanks,
Dan Drake
