• Bug#265750: displays "cannot find font" behind the splash screen

From Marc Haber@1:229/2 to All on Sat Aug 14 21:00:09 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Package: scribus
    Version: 1.2.0.cvs20040714-2
    Severity: normal

If a font is not found on startup, scribus displays a dialog saying
that the found cannot be found and asks whether to replace the font
    with another one.

That dialog is completely covered with the unmoveable "always on top"
splash screen. So it is not possible to see the dialog until one
notices the dialog in the task bar.

    Greetings
    Marc

Please provide the exact steps to re-create this bug. For instance, do you start scribus on the command line and give it a file name as an argument? Also, email a sample document to me please.

I start scribus from the Alt-F2 "Run Command" dialog, and do not give
a file name on the command line. Since the bug comes up without a
document being involved, I can't send a sample document.

The bug only hits you once since scribus notes the missing font and
its replacement after asking the user once.

    Greetings
    Marc

    Marc,

Please describe how you remove fonts and what scribus shows in the Settings>Fonts when no document is open when you add/remove fonts and restart it. The reason for these questions is that I can't reproduce the bug you are encountering. I've removed some fonts on my system and restarted scribus and
it came up just fine and Settings>Fonts just doesn't show those fonts
anymore. If I add fonts, they get found by scribus, too. So, what are the
fonts that scribus doesn't find on startup and why it doesn't find them are
the next questions. Also, please bzip2 and email me your ~/.scribus
directory. Did you try renaming it and restarting scribus?

    Regards,

    Alex.

I don't know how do to this. The situation I reported was reached
during an upgrade of scribus, X, KDE and the fonts.

I was able to solve the problem by maximizing the dialog window from
the task bar. I don't remember exactly which font scribus complained
    about.

    Greetings
    Marc
