OK, thanks. I've just reported a bug against libxerces23.
The bug is fixed in unstable. I hope that this will be the version
that will be used in sarge, as the current version in testing
(xalan 1.6) doesn't work with any XML file (whether or not they
contain non-ASCII characters).
