    OK, thanks. I've just reported a bug against libxerces23.

    The bug is fixed in unstable. I hope that this will be the version
    that will be used in sarge, as the current version in testing
    (xalan 1.6) doesn't work with any XML file (whether or not they
    contain non-ASCII characters).

    Jay just uploaded a 2.5-3 version of Xerces to link against an older
    version of ICU - the new one is not building on ARM, and is causing some problems - which is leading to some problems for Xalan. Assuming that
    is OK, I'm hoping we can get Xalan through.
