• Bug#265690: Installation error when locale encoding is UTF-8 or non ISO

From Konstantinos Margaritis@1:229/2 to All on Sat Aug 14 15:10:08 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Package: ifaroese
    Version: 0.2.2-2
    Severity: important

    Hi,
While testing installation of multiple ispell dictionaries, I tried to
    install ifaroese as well.
This is the error during installation:

    Unpacking ifaroese (from .../ifaroese_0.2.2-2_i386.deb) ...
    dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/ifaroese_0.2.2-2_i386.deb (--unpack):
unable to stat `./usr/lib/ispell/froyskt.aff' (which I was about to
    install): Invalid argument

This is because the filename bokm.aff (I suppose it's bokmal?) uses an ISO-8859-1 character which does not map to UTF-8. Using non-ASCII
characters for filenames in a package assumes that the user uses a
specific locale/encoding combination, which may not always be the case.
I suggest this filename is changed to a simpler form.

    Regards

    Konstantinos
