Hai everyone,

The new ifupdown fails if ifstate does not exist. This is a feature.
The ifstate file is created by the new ifupdown initscript start
method; you won't experience the reported problem if you agree to
install the new initscript. Perhaps the documentation needs to be
improved?
Which of the init.d-scripts were supposed to be installed? There are no *.dpkg-new-files anywhere in /etc/init.d.
I, then, tried to use /usr/share/doc/ifupdown/examples/generate- interfaces.pl.gz, because I thought, my interfaces-file was not up to
scratch - same result.
The next thing, I did, was adding
if ! [ -f /etc/network/ifstate ]; then
touch /etc/network/ifstate
fi
to /etc/init.d/networking: now everything works.
Could anyone of you please tell me, what I am supposed to do, to get it
working in "the ordinary way"?
Have a nice day,
Daniel
