• Bug#265566: Resending: turck-mmcache dependencies are not properly set

From Bojan Baros@1:229/2 to All on Fri Aug 13 21:20:05 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Package: turck-mmcache
    Version: 2.4.6-6
    Followup-For: Bug #265566

Resending because previous email was [email protected], and list
    server does not like it.

I have switched to apache2, and I wish to use turck-mmcache with it.

'apt-cache show turck-mmcache' shows the following line:
    Depends: php4-cgi (>= 4:4.3.4), php4 (>= 4:4.3.4) | libapache2-mod-php4,
    libc6
    = 2.3.2.ds1-4).

I have removed php4-cgi and php4, and installed libapache2-mod-php4, but turck-mmcache will not install (apt-get says that it requires php4 of php4-cgi).

Dependencies need to be corrected so that turck-mmcache can be installed
on the systems that have libapache2-mod-php4, but not php4 and php4-cgi.

    Hi Bojan,

I have removed php4-cgi and php4, and installed libapache2-mod-php4, but turck-mmcache will not install (apt-get says that it requires php4 of php4-cgi).

Dependencies need to be corrected so that turck-mmcache can be installed
on the systems that have libapache2-mod-php4, but not php4 and php4-cgi.

Hmm, yes. Or no, not sure about this yet. I've already been through this
whole debate once (although without the Apache2 complication):

    http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=221580

I'll have to think about it a bit more, but personally I *really* don't
want to remove the dependency on php4-cgi since for me at least that's
required for what I consider important functionality within the package.

    Cheers :-)

    Hello Jonathan.

As long as turck-mmcache will work with apache2, I don't have any complaints.

    Bojan
