After some digging through the patch between 164-2 and 169-1 I found the following:
- result->tls_checkpeer = 0;
+ result->tls_checkpeer = -1;
The newer version defaults to tls_checkpeer, the older version didn't. So it's a change in behaviour which probably should be documented. Adding "tls_checkpeer no" to /etc/pam_ldap.conf" solved my problem.
I leave it at the mantainers discretion to decide whether to consider this a bug.
