    Hi,

fonty's new autodetection of the number of consoles does not take into
account that some X servers might occupy vts. Trying operate on a vt x
owns produces strange effects up to a complete freeze. This bug is
triggered upon upgrading to 1.0-17 or dpkg-reconfigure fonty with one or
more X servers running. It doesn't matter whether run in console or
    graphical environment.

I have a trident cyber 9525rev49 graphics adapter.

Feel free to tell me how to help you.

    Christoph

I'm using i810 driver for XFree86 and it works for me. I think I should try to detect if vts is utilised by X server.

    Please try to call

    stty </dev/tty1

    and

stty </dev/tty7 (or other vts with X)

    and send me an output.

If it really makes the difference, I'll make a quick fix for the fonty
    package.
