    Date: 20040813
Method: build monolithic image for 2.6, boot using 'expert vga=0x318' http://debian-amd64.alioth.debian.org/gcc-3.4/ unstable
    Machine: Shuttle SN85G4V2
    Processor: AMD64 3200+ (Newcastle)
    Memory: 1 GB

    Comments/Problems:

    3 minor problems:
Booting via 'expert vga=0x318' did not work. Got just a blank
screen. Would it be possible to add fbcon to the kernel?

Why am I asked twice to klick away all these kernel modules
for IDE chips I do not have and I do not want to be loaded?
Especially loading ide-generic would disable the other
    ide-modules, anyway.

Configure Hardware should be displayed only once.

After reboot in the postinstall menu I selected

Select and install packages --> manual package selection

Aptitude was started as expected, but it showed a popup
    immediately, saying

No packages are scheduled to be installed,
    removed, or upgraded.

After klicking [OK] aptitude showed just a blank screen instead
of the expected Package View. Surely aptitude is no tool for
    Newbies, but this was confusing.

I would suggest to start aptitude with a Categorical Browser
or the Package View, if there is nothing to install.

    Regards

    Harri
