Package: gaim
Version: 1:0.81-1
Severity: normal
I have been using Contact Aliases as a way to attach names to people in
my buddy list so I don't forget them. However, in conversations, I like
to see the other party's screen name, rather than real name (alias).
In Preferences | Interface | Conversations I have "Show aliases in
tabs/titles" unchecked, and indeed the buddy's screen name shows up in
the tab and the window title of conversations. However, Gaim is using
the Contact Alias in the conversation itself to label the other party's messages.
This is a change in behavior from earlier versions (< 0.81, I believe).
I would assume if a person doesn't want to use aliases in tabs/titles,
then he wouldn't want to see aliases in the conversation, either.
