• Bug#265319: dosbox: Exit to error: CacheBlock overrun

From Johan Walles@1:229/2 to All on Thu Aug 12 19:30:15 2004
    From: [email protected]

    Package: dosbox
    Version: 0.61-3
    Severity: normal

Playing Pinball Fantasies using a configuration file I'll soon attach
(nag me if I forget), I had the following printouts on stdout when
    dosbox suddenly exited:

    "
CONFIG:Loading settings from config file dosbox.conf
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:446:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No
    such file or directory
    ALSA:Can't open sequencer
    MIDI:Opened device:none
Using joystick Logitech Logitech Extreme 3D Pro with 6 axes and 16 buttons Writing to current block
    Exit to error: CacheBlock overrun

    "

Everything up to and including the line about the joystick is printed
every time I run, so I guess only the last two lines are relevant.

    Hi,

You've probably set cpu=dynamic in the configfile.
That cpu core isn't very stable yet (will be in future versions (hopefully)).

The dosbox team noted on their webpage:
"Don't bother to post about games not working dynamic core or being to slow, they'll be happily deleted/ignored. "

I think i will add this information to the dosbox readme.debian, as that is the "official" view on the matter.

Will take a while or so as I'm without internet acces for a 1 1/2 week

    Peter Veenstra
